Runnells Park & Recreation Board
The Runnells Park and Recreation Board is seeking an interested person to fill one vacant
seat on the Park Board (city residency not required).

The Park Board consists of five members, with a minimum of three residents from the City of Runnells
and a liaison from the City Council.  This Board sets rules, recommends improvements and generally
oversees all aspects of our beautiful City Park.

We meet once a month with meetings lasting about one hour.  If you have an interest in contributing a
small amount of your time to the improvement and maintenance of the Runnells Area Park, please
contact Runnells City Hall at 966-2042 or anyone listed below.

Operation of Golf
Carts on City
Streets
Ordinance 11-11-08
(Yearly Permit)

No person shall operate
a golf cart on any public
street or alley, for any
purpose, unless the
operator possesses a
City of Runnells permit.

Golf carts may be
operated upon the City
streets by persons
possessing a valid Iowa
operator's license and
at least 17 years of age,
except as prohibited in
Section 22.03.

hours of operation, and
acquiring a permit,
please see the complete
ordinance at City Hall.
In case of an extended power outage, the Runnells fire station is set up with
emergency power and heat.  Please stop by if you need a warm place to
hang out.  Local radio stations will announce when it is in operation, and
contact information if a ride is needed.

2014 Summer Reading Program

Your children are invited to join Runnells Community Library
Program and attend the fun programs and events we are
planning for children of all ages.  This summer’s theme- Fizz,
Boom, Read! – explores all kinds of science topics.  The
programs are free and open to children and adults of all
abilities.
Our program will run June 2nd through August 2nd.  This will
be the last day to claim prizes.
Prizes will be awarded for every two hours of reading.  
Younger children who are not yet reading can participate in
the program by having an adult or older sibling read to them.  
In addition, we will be hosting 4 activities during the summer.  
Mark these dates and times on your calendar! Children and
adults welcome.
June 14th (10:30 am) – Container Gardening Class
Please bring your own container (around 12 inch) and gloves.

June 28th (10:30 am) – Cooking Class
Please bring your own cookie sheet.

July 12th (10:30 am) – Photography Class
July 26th (10:30 am) – Storytelling with an “Iowa Pioneer”
New This Year! We will have an adult program.  Prizes will be
awarded for every two hours of reading.
Stop by the library to register and to pick up your reading
logs.  We are located in the Runnells Elementary School
Library at 6575 SE 116th St, Runnells.  We are open from 5:30
– 8:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday and from 10:00 am – 1:00
pm Saturday.
We are pleased to be able to offer this programming to our
community.  It only works with your support!  We look forward
to seeing you and your children this summer.
