Each year, students of Iowa State University run the torch more than 300 miles to Ames. Runners from ISU carrying the torch of VEISHEA spirit entered the east side of town around 11:30 am and passed the torch onto our honorary torch bearers who ran it through town before handing it back off to Iowa State students. |

| State Family Benefit Auction ~ Saturday, May 3rd At the Runnells Fire Station 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM We have a quiet family in our community that has been hit with a devastating disease called Clear Cell Meningioma. Existing literature on this disease states that this is the only family in the country currently dealing with this disease impacting two generations within one family. The mother and two daughters are currently being treated at the University of Iowa Hospital. Clear Cell Meningioma is a relatively rare variant of a common benign tumor, but is considered to be a more aggressive type of tumor. In fact, medical evidence has shown that after a treatment, it often returns within 2.5 years and often more than one tumor at a time. The State family is in need of our help. We are looking for donations to auction off on May 3rd or cash donations to help them with medical bills and everyday expenses. Please contact Carol Elam at 971-1936 or Sandy Curry at 577-6977 SUPPER WILL BE SERVED BEEF BURGERS AND HOT DOGS WITH A DRINK Monetary donations can be made to Great Western Bank - State Family Fundraiser or mailed to Runnells City Hall c/o Carol Elam, PO Box 33, Runnells, IA 50237 |
